Let’s Talk to an AMAZING Dietitian!

Season 3, Episode 3: I took notes so you didn’t have to…. So grab your apron and let's get into it! *this is not a sponsored podcast

Hi Everyone!!! How’s it going?? January always feels like it’s all about fresh starts and creating new healthy habits. I mean we all try and have the best intentions usually with these things but come two weeks or maybe a month in, some of us, well….fall back into old habits and patterns fairly quickly so I thought it would be great to sit down with the amazing, Lexy Penney, a registered dietitian here in the Boston area to talk about health and well being. Lexy’s program isn’t your typical nutrition coaching program. Most dietitians will meet with you and just talk about food and Lexy is so much more than that.As she says, “In my experience, this isn’t enough. With my approach, although we do talk about food, we do WAY more than that. We’ll talk self-care, coping skills, mental health, exercise, sleep, boundaries, and more to create a real mindset shift that serves you.”

A great tip Lexy suggestions to help with establishing a few new healthy habits in your life are to…

  • Reduce phone, social media and scrolling time every day

  • Increase exercise or movements that you enjoy daily, the key word is that you enjoy. That makes a huge difference.

  • Increasing your fruit and vegetable intake daily, even small steps and bites every day make a difference

If you’re interested in learning more about intuitive eating here’s a great place to start. For many this is an ENTIRELY new way of eating and sometimes can feel very uncomfortable at first because it goes totally against what a lot of us have been doing for many many years so be gentle with yourself and recognize that there is no “perfect” way to do this you need to do what works for you.

Getting to know me!

Season 3, Episode 2: I took notes so you didn’t have to…. So grab your apron and let's get into it! *this is not a sponsored podcast

Hi all!! It’s been brought to my attention that there are lot of new listeners out there and you’d like to get to know me a little bit better! I am truly flattered. So this episode is just me and you…we are chatting and getting to know each other a little better. One thing that I did mention in the episode is how much a truly appreciate you all. I mean it, from the bottom of my heart. Without you this podcast would be nothing so thank you. Thank you for taking time to listen, to write and cook along with me. It means so much to me. One of my favorite things about this podcast is you and your questions. I read every single one and answer them all personally and if I can’t answer them I get a professional on the pod who can! Please keep them coming in. You can send them to letsgoonafoodadventure@gmail.com and again THANK YOU!

A few things I chat about in this episode worth mentioning again are…

  • JAPANESE PANCAKES!!!! from IAMAFOODBLOG

  • Shrimp and Grits

  • Adding 1 1/2 tablespoons of chia seeds to your oatmeal, and don’t forget to soak your oats overnight with a little bit of acid to help you digest it better. Minimalist Baker explains it well here.

Season 3, Episode 1: I took notes so you didn’t have to…. So grab your apron and let's get into it! *this is not a sponsored podcast

Hi, I’m Beth and I have a cookbook addiction. Yes…I LOVE cookbooks. I love buying them, I love flipping through them. I love taking time to be thoughtful about which one I choose and then I love going back to them year after year and falling back in love with them again. I can NEVER get enough of my cookbook collection. So I thought today I would review some of that I recently have been cooking from and flipping through. I thought maybe you would love to start your year with some culinary inspiration!

The cookbooks I review and mention in this episode…
