Road Trippin to Maine

Episode 21 Season 2: I took notes so you didn’t have to…. So grab your apron and let's get into it!

So a we decided to take an impromptu trip up the coast in Maine and I thought why not tell you all about it. We have explored a lot of the southern coastal areas in Maine but not much of the mid or northern coast so this trip we definitely took more time to scratch the surface on the mid coastal communities in Maine and see what they were all about.

If you’ve never been to Maine, well my friend’s you are missing out. There’s so much to love about this state. It’s rural, but not, it’s coastal but not it’s progressive but not. It’s a state that has a little bit of something for everyone I think and is also kind of a step back in time in places.

Here’s a few spots in Maine, mostly the Portland Area to get you started with that are old standby’s of ours…

Even Tide Oyster - https://www.eventideoysterco.com

Central Provisions - http://www.central-provisions.com

Fore Street - https://www.forestreet.biz

Bite Into Maine Food Truck - https://www.biteintomaine.com

Maine Beer Company - https://www.mainebeercompany.com

Wayside Tavern - https://www.waysidetavernmaine.com

Tandem Coffee and Bakery - https://www.tandemcoffee.com

Five Islands Lobster Company - https://fiveislandslobster.com/menu/ , my good friend Lindsay from Nan’s Market (which you should totally check out in you’re in Stow, MA!) recommended and did not disappoint. This is a picnic table kind of spot so feel free to bring a bottle of wine and snag a picnic table!

Five Islands Farm - https://www.fiveislandsfarm.com/#/, we fell in love with this little market. They had everything we needed to put a few dinners together on our own in our Air BNB and just loved the vibe

Maine Oyster Company, https://themaineoystercompany.com/oyster-bar-portland-me, their base camp was a few blocks from where we stayed in Phippsberg. I HIGHLY recommend picking up some oysters from them in you are in the area or hitting up their spot in Portland. Just a tip, it’s on the honor system at the basecamp so bring cash or they take Venmo. While you are there head next door to their neighbors and grab a few lobsters. We did and they were PERFECT!!!

If you’re staying in Phippsberg or even Bath and love clams…GO TO THE CLAM HUNTER and pick some up to cook for yourself. They are were the best, and I mean the best, steamers I have ever had and I have had a lot. Wonderful people forging for the best clams out there!
